Fabrication & Manufacturing of ATV Buggy

An ATV fabrication and racing event organized by SAEINDIA backed by Mahindra & Mahindra for undergraduate engineering students in India. It serves as a platform for young engineering talent to showcase their skills and acquire a real life experience while overcoming obstacle and challenges.




    BAJA SAE INDIA competition requires students to make an all-terrain vehicle completely on their own. It thoroughly examines the practical knowledge of students through various aspects like innovation, design and build quality. It consists of Design Presentation, Dynamic Events like acceleration, suspension & traction to check each parameter in the vehicle. The competition concludes with a four hour endurance race on a very harsh terrain that truly tests the vehicle.

    Who can Participate ?

        2. Go through BAJA SAE INDIA Rulebook – Download Here
        3. Selection Procedure in Baja SAEINDIA
        4. Build a great team for your project
        5. Boost up your Vehicle Dynamics Fundamentals ( Follow BAJA Tutor Materials )
        6. Browse activities of top performing teams
        7. Read PDR / FDR at least 10-15 BAJA Teams
        8. Start working on Innovation and Marketing
        9. Brush up on your CAD / CAE Softwares
        10. Do the Mathematical Vehicle Forces Calculations
        11. Make a Base Plan and 3D CAD Wireframe
        12. Build a Physical Prototype of Frame
        13. Prepare CAD Model of whole Vehicle
        14. Analyse various Subassemblies
        15. Get Ready for BAJA Virtuals
        16. Set up your Workshop
        17. Procure essential tools and accessories
        18. Start Welding
        19. Start approaching Sponsors
        20. Ensure Proper Fit of each sub-assemblies
        21. Arrange for other vehicle accessories
        22. Finish Mounting Critical Components in Order
        23. Do a Test Drive
        24. Discuss Improvements
        25. Do the Paint Job
        26. Run Field Test for at least a month
        27. Do the DFMEA – Testing & Validation
        28. Keep the Spare parts at Hand
        29. Ship the Vehicle to the race Track
